December is National Cat Lover's Month. We love our furry feline patients here at Bay Vet Clinic and make it as pleasant of an experience as possible. We require your cat to be in a pet carrier when coming to our clinic for multiple reasons.
Cats normally do not enjoy car rides, which can be quite scary. In a pet carrier cats feel safer since they are able to hide, especially if they have a blanket with them. They also won't make a mess of your vehicle if they do get scared, some cats may even urinate when scared. Cat urine can be difficult to remove from fabric.
Our clinic is right by an extremely busy highway, if your cat is in a secured pet carrier, they won't be able to run off when they get scared, and again they will feel much safer since they are hidden away.
When you are in the waiting room of our clinic, we do have other patients as well and many of them are dogs which can be loud and rambunctious, two things cats do not enjoy. They are called "scaredy cat" for a reason.
It may be difficult to load your cat into the pet carrier at home, but they normally find it a welcoming sanctuary after their visit, they realize it is a place where they are safe and will usually scamper back in when they get the chance.
