June is National Microchipping Month!
Has your pet ever wandered from home? Do you go camping and take your pet along for the ride? Are you concerned your pet may get lost or stolen? We want to make sure pets are reunited with their owners. Microchipping your pet is an easy way to make sure your pet is returned to you. We use Home Again Microchips in our patients.* These microchips are placed under the skin between the shoulder blades and can be done at any time. There are no age or weight requirements. The microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and can be scanned with a microchip scanner which most veterinary clinics and animal shelters have. Our Home Again Microchips are also able to tell us your pet’s temperature! So, for pets who may feel defiled by a rectal thermometer, this could be the way to go.** There are no extra/monthly fees with having your pet microchipped and we also take care of all the paperwork!*** All we need from you is your current home address, phone number, and e-mail address. You will receive a welcome e-mail from Home Again and are then able to make any changes to your account as needed. Placing a microchip is a virtually painless process done by using an applicator which looks like a syringe, the needle is just a bit bigger than your pet’s normal vaccine needle. Due to the larger sized needle, many owners prefer their pet’s microchip be placed while their pet is under anesthesia for a surgery or procedure, but a microchip can be placed at any time. If you are interested in having your pet microchipped, please call us at (906)786-1878 to schedule your appointment today! Also, if you would like more information we do have pamphlets available, along with our very knowledgeable staff. Or click the link below to visit the Home Again website: 3 Million Pets Reunited | HomeAgain Pet Recovery | HomeAgain Pet Recovery *Home Again Microchips are not tracking devices; they are specifically used to identify your pet and you as their owner. **Rectal temperatures are still preferred and occasionally necessary over microchip scanned temperatures. ***Home Again does have a premium package available which you can upgrade to when you receive your welcome e-mail. This package includes extra services and therefore has monthly fees. Visit their website for details. As always, don't forget to keep your pet current on their heartworm and flea/tick preventative! Call us today and we can set it aside for you, (906)786-1878. |
