Dr. Lisa GartlandOwner/DVMDr. Lisa Gartland is thrilled to announce her ownership of Bay Veterinary Clinic. After ten years of successful practice in Colorado, she returns to her hometown of Escanaba with eagerness and enthusiasm. The warm and tight-knit community fills her heart with joy, reigniting her passion for helping animals. The local support shown to the shelter and all of the area veterinarians is truly fulfilling. She is committed to providing exceptional care to her patients for years to come.
She is currently a member of the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association), MVMA (Michigan Veterinary Medical Association), AAFP (American Association of Feline Practitioners) and is USDA accredited. In her free time she enjoys being outside and is excited to enjoy the spectacular UP wilderness. She currently resides in Flat Rock with her husband Nick and their three black and white cats, Oscar, Felix, and Stewey. You can often find her in the woods on their property, on Lake Michigan sailing/boating, or birding. She also has three outdoor mousers and is currently raising chickens with the hope of starting a small hobby farm someday. |

Head Veterinary Technician I’ve been an employee here since 2008. I started as a veterinary assistant and now I’m currently the Head Technician. I assist the doctor, technicians and others assistants while working with patients throughout the day. I do many different jobs, but some of my skills range from drawing blood to assisting in surgeries. I was born and raised in the U.P. and would consider myself a True Yooper! I enjoy outdoor activities, traveling, and being with friends and family. I am a 2006 graduate of Gladstone High School and also attended Bay de Noc Community college. Working with Dr. Laskaska and Dr. Way has been the greatest opportunity. I’m grateful for the relationships I’ve developed with our clients and co-workers throughout the years here. Our clinic is a place where you will be greeted with a friendly smile and we will treat your pet like one of our own. Come on in and see us! |

Practice Manager I’m originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada but have called the U.P. home since 2002. I live with my husband, two sons, dogs, cats, and ducks. I love anything outdoors, and as a family, we enjoy rustic camping and riding dirt bikes! I am also a mentor to my son's robotics team, mentor and volunteer for high school robotics, and enjoy volunteering my time at competitions. I started as a veterinary assistant in 2003 with another clinic and had the opportunity to join the team here at Bay Vet Clinic in 2011. I am now the Practice Manager. I truly enjoy working here as the atmosphere is supportive, encouraging, educational, professional, and fun. This is a great group of people to work with; the clientele and patients are wonderful! I am so glad I get to do what I love and love the people I get to do it with! |

Head Receptionist and Veterinary Assistant I graduated from Northern Michigan University, where I majored in Biology. I started working here in 2016 part time while going to school, but have been full time since 2019. The U.P. has been home for me my entire life. I grew up in Cornell where I still love to spend time and be outside doing everything from fishing to kayaking to camping. What I most enjoy is hunting, so come October I spend most of my time in the woods and at camp. I currently have three cats, Aly, Mabel, and Winnie, and a dog named River, who the cats have grown to enjoy running with around the house. |

Veterinary Assistant I've been an employee here since December 2019. I have been so lucky to have this opportunity to work with such an awesome and caring team here at the Bay Vet Clinic. I've always had a passion for animals, so coming to work each day is always fun. I never know what we'll encounter. I was raised here in the U.P. I live in St. Jacques with my husband, Jordan, and our two dogs, Cash and Wilbur. In my spare time I love going camping, kayaking, painting, and visiting new places. |
