Dr Sue Laskaska

Owner/DVM

Hello, I’m Dr. Sue Laskaska. I graduated from Michigan State University Veterinary School in 1987. I spent the first ten years of my career in the Detroit suburbs before moving here and buying the Bay Veterinary Clinic in 1997. My husband Randy and I are so grateful to have been embraced by this community. We are thankful to have had the opportunity to raise our children, Matt and Sarah, here. Besides seeing my patients, I have volunteered my time as a race veterinarian in the U.P. 200 sled dog race and the St. Ignace Enduro sled dog races as well as at the Miracle of Life exhibit at the U.P. State Fair. I have also treated birds for the Raptor Rehab center, and worked with local rehab specialist on other injured wildlife, including deer, foxes, bobcats, waterfowl, and a bear cub. I am on the board of directors for the Delta Animal Shelter, and work extensively with them. My hobbies are scuba diving, snowmobiling, kayaking, cooking, and pretty much any outdoor activity. After over 30 years in practice, I still can’t wait to get to work every morning. I pledge to give you and your pets my very best effort at all times!

Dr Holly Way

Associate DVM

I grew up in Gladstone and graduated in 1993. I then attended Bay College and Northern Michigan University. I received my Veterinary Medicine degree from Michigan State in 2001 and returned to the UP to practice.
I enjoy my work, finding that every day brings new and interesting challenges and chances to help others and their beloved animal companions. My family and I enjoy camping, biking, sports, music, reading, hiking, travel and gathering with family and friends. I am a Scoutmaster with Scout Troop 401, and enjoy volunteering at many school, church and community activities. Our family has two good dogs, Sparty, Tiny Dog, and many fish.

Emmett

Office Security

My name is Emmett and I came here from the shelter one day to be neutered by Dr. Sue but never left!   Since that fateful day back in 2014, I've spent my days keeping a watchful eye over the girls here at the Bay Vet Clinic and I've enjoyed every moment of it.  On my days off I enjoy my life with Dr. Sue and her husband hanging out at home or playing at the lake house.  My other favorite activities is spending time at my best friend, Millie's, house with her human, (and also a Bay Vet girl) Kristi!
Kristi Nelson
Head Veterinary Technician
I’ve been an employee here since 2008. I started as a veterinary assistant and now I’m currently the Head Technician. I assist the doctor, technicians and others assistants while working with patients throughout the day. I do many different jobs, but some of my skills range from drawing blood to assisting in surgeries.
I was born and raised in the U.P. and would consider myself a True Yooper! I enjoy outdoor activities, traveling, and being with friends and family. I am a 2006 graduate of Gladstone High School and also attended Bay de Noc Community college.
Working with Dr. Laskaska and Dr. Way has been the greatest opportunity. I’m grateful for the relationships I’ve developed with our clients and co-workers throughout the years here. Our clinic is a place where you will be greeted with a friendly smile and we will treat your pet like one of our own. Come on in and see us!

Accounting and Human Resources Manager
I’m originally from Sault Ste Marie Ontario Canada but have called the U.P. home since 2002. I live with my husband, two sons, two dogs, and two cats. I love anything outdoors, especially cross country skiing, snowmobiling, four wheeling, and rustic camping! I’m also very involved with my sons school and PTO and you will find me either volunteering, helping out with Lego club, or subbing where needed.

I joined the team here at Bay Vet Clinic in 2011 as a veterinary assistant and am now also the book keeper. I absolutely love working here! The atmosphere is supportive, encouraging, educational, professional and fun. This is a great group of people to work with and the clientele and patients are wonderful! I’m so glad I get to do what I love!

Carly Hansen
Veterinarian Assistant
I was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula! In my spare time I enjoy backpacking/hiking, camping, kayaking, going to concerts and riding horses.
I became certified in Equine Massage Therapy in March of 2017. I graduated from Northern Michigan University in May 2017 with an Associate of Business.
In December 2017 I joined the Bay Vet team. I’ve always had a passion for animals and I’m grateful that the Bay vet clinic has given me the opportunity to work with animals.
I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the clientele/patients and I’m happy to have such a great work environment.
Aubrey Corwin
Head Receptionist and Veterinarian Assistant
I graduated from Northern Michigan University, where I majored in Biology. I started working here in 2016 part time while going to school, but have been full time since 2019. The U.P. has been home for me my entire life. I grew up in Cornell where I still love to spend time and be outside doing everything from fishing to kayaking to camping. What I most enjoy is hunting, so come October I spend most of my time in the woods and at camp. I currently have three cats, Aly, Mabel, and Winnie, and a dog named River, who the cats have grown to enjoy running with around the house.
Karissa Nedeau
Veterinarian Assistant

I've been an employee here since December 2019. I have been so lucky to have this opportunity to work with such an awesome and caring team here at the Bay Vet Clinic. I've always had a passion for animals, so coming to work each day is always fun. I never know what we'll encounter. I was raised here in the U.P. I live in St. Jacques with my husband, Jordan, and our two dogs, Cash and Wilbur. In my spare time I love going camping, kayaking, painting, and visiting new places.
